Benefits of a Driveway Alarm System

If you have already had a home security system installed in your home, you are one step closer to keeping your home and family safer. However, once you have the basics installed, you can begin to add more layers of home security to your house that will just make you and your family more secure. One of these components is a driveway alarm system. This is especially recommended if you have a long, remote driveway leading to your house. If you can not see the end of your driveway from a window in your house, you should seriously consider getting a driveway alarm installed.

There are many benefits to installing a driveway alarm. Here are a few of them:

1. You can monitor people or vehicles that come up your driveway.

2. You can monitor people who might be trying to gain entry to your property by your front or backyard.

3. If you have a pool, you can put a driveway alarm near the pool so you can know if your kids get too close to it.

4. You can use them to keep tabs on what is going on around an outbuilding like a tool shed or detached garage.

Typically, a driveway alarm includes a sensor and a receiver. While there are wired ones available, most people choose to get wireless systems instead. They are easier to install and easier to maintain. You simply put the sensor in the area where you want the monitoring to be done and put the receiver inside your house. Most systems have a range of up to 100 feet, but there are some systems that can detect for up to 300 feet. Of course, the longer the range, the more you will pay for the system.

Driveway alerts today can tell the difference between a small animal, such as a rabbit or squirrel, and a person, so you will not be informed every time a little creature comes into your yard. They are also durable in all kinds of weather and come with a batter backup in the event that you lose power. In many ways, they are very similar to home security system except that you usually do not get monitoring services with a driveway alarm unless it's connected to your main security system.

Burglars readily on the element of surprise when it comes to breaking into houses. However, if you have a driveway alarm installed, they will not be able to get the jump on you since you will see them before they ever see you.
